Brain Awareness Week

Brain Awareness Week is a global campaign that celebrates the wonders of the brain. Every March, participants host imaginative activities in their communities to foster public enthusiasm and support for brain science.  The importance of scientific discovery on our everyday lives is also highlighted to encourage advocacy for brain research.

Event organizers include colleges and universities, hospitals, research facilities, K-12 schools, advocacy groups, outreach organizations, professional associations, government agencies, corporations, and more ().

Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥'s Brain Club was established to create an organization for students interested in neuroscience related topics and research. The club is a gateway for the advancement of knowledge of brain themes such as brain gender, sleep disorders, learning and memory, mental health issues, etc. Brain Club assumes a fair amount of responsibility for the Lehigh Valley Brain Awareness Week programs at Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ and within our Lehigh Valley community under the guidance of Dr. Cecilia Fox, Director of the Neuroscience Program. Brain Club also serves as a conduit for student engagement in service-learning and community service activities related to the field of neuroscience.

Past BAW Themes Include:

  • The Musical Brain
  • The Art of Neuroscience
  • Brain Sex
  • Neurological Disorders in Children
  • Socioeconomic Disparities in Developing Brain Health
  • Neurodiversity
