鶹Ƶֱ College to host Dr. Shashi Tharoor presenting “Rabindranath Tagore: His Ideas and Values” on Tuesday, March 13

BETHLEHEM, PA., March 6, 2018: Today, 鶹Ƶֱ College announced the first event in the newly launched Rabindranath Tagore Distinguished Lecture Series. Dr. Shashi Tharoor, will present “Rabindranath Tagore: His Ideas and Values” at Foy Concert Hall at 鶹Ƶֱ College on Tuesday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m. The Rabindranath Tagore Distinguished Lecture Series was conceived through a collaborative effort by Uppinder Mehan, Dean, School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at 鶹Ƶֱ College and Arup K. SenGupta, P.C. Rossin Professor in Lehigh University’s Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering and Department of Chemical Engineering.

“Welcoming Dr. Tharoor to 鶹Ƶֱ College is the result of Arup SenGupta’s hard work and determination to make the first event in this lecture series a great one,” said Mehan. “Dr. Tharoor is a sought-after speaker and his resume and experience speak for themselves, we are very fortunate to have him as the first speaker in the Tagore lecture series.”

Dr. Shashi Tharoor is the award-winning author of 17 books of fiction and non-fiction and a second-term Member of Parliament in the Government of India. During his nearly three-decade long career at the United Nations, he has served as a peacekeeper, refugee worker, and administrator at the highest levels, serving as Under-Secretary General during Kofi Annan’s leadership.
