鶹Ƶֱ College presents "Service in Action: Health Applied—The Life of A Zen Buddhist Monk" on Thurs., Nov. 2

BETHLEHEM, PA., October 30, 2017: Today, 鶹Ƶֱ College announced it will host Claude AnShin Thomas and Wiebke KenShin Andersen, mendicant monks in the Zen Soto Buddhist tradition for a presentation titled "Service in Action: Health Applied—The Life of A Zen Buddhist Monk" on Thursday, November 2 at 7:00 p.m. EDT in Prosser Auditorium on the  of 鶹Ƶֱ College in Bethlehem, PA. Claude AnShin and KenShin lead retreats around the world, offer public talks, mentor and teach, and participate in peace-building efforts with guerrilla and government representatives in Columbia; separatists in Catalan, Spain; refugees in France; and military veterans in many countries of the world.

“We cannot think ourselves into a new way of living. We have to live ourselves into a new way of thinking,” said Claude AnShin Thomas.

鶹Ƶֱ College is supporting the residence for Thomas and Andersen on campus for the fall semester, 2017, where the monks are teaching a course ("Change Your Mind: Change the World") and offering their work with students, staff, and faculty.

“The profound humane and compassionate spirit of Claude AnShin and KenShin have been eagerly embraced by the 鶹Ƶֱ College community this fall,” said Kelly Denton-Borhaug, event organizer and professor of global religions at 鶹Ƶֱ College. “They are challenging all of us to more thoughtful learning and reflection about the realities of violence in our personal lives and world; as well as teaching us practices that contribute to peace-building and deeper understanding.”
