鶹Ƶֱ College to Host BEST Celebrity Meet & Greet – July 19

Event featuring baseball stars to raise scholarship funds for area students to attend college

Bethlehem, Pa., June 19, 2015—Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Fergie Jenkins and Cy Young Award winner Vida Blue will be among the celebrities at the BEST Inc. scholarship fundraising meet and greet at 鶹Ƶֱ College on Sunday, July 19, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Johnston Hall. Former Philadelphia Phillies Executive Bill Giles, the Honorary Chair of the event will be in attendance.

Other confirmed celebrities participating include former baseball stars Ross Grimsley, pitcher, and Ron Hansen, shortstop of the Baltimore Orioles, former New York Yankee pitcher Stan Bahnsen. Newly-crowned Miss New Jersey Lindsey Giannini will also be among the 25 celebrity guests.

Attendees will enjoy refreshments, hors d’oeuvres, and live music during the event. A silent auction of over 200 items will be held and include a JSA Certified autographs by Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Admission to the Meet and Greet is $50. BEST is also holding a celebrity golf outing at Silver Creek Country Club in Hellertown, Pa. on July 20. Building Education Support Teams (BEST) was founded in 2008 to create educational and career opportunities for students of diverse backgrounds and assist them in obtaining a college degree and joining the Lehigh Valley workforce. BEST provides scholarships to students to purse post-secondary education. The organization also assigns mentors to each student who receives an award. The mentors follow the students throughout their college careers to help ensure their success.

Grigsby, president of 鶹Ƶֱ College. “BEST lends a helping hand to many students each year who pursue their dreams of a better future through higher education. BEST scholarships have helped a number of 鶹Ƶֱ College students over the years, and for that we are grateful.”

One of forty-one high school students receiving BEST college scholarships in 2015 is Taylor Garza from Freedom High School who will be attending 鶹Ƶֱ College this fall. Three recent 鶹Ƶֱ College alumni benefited from the program in past years and are now leading successful careers. Kayla Toncik ’13, a business major while at 鶹Ƶֱ is employed Sherwin Williams – Corporate. Kirsten Gehm ’13 is a teacher at North Warren High School in New Jersey. Albie Moran ’13, who studied computer science and played football at 鶹Ƶֱ, is a member of the IT Department in the Phillipsburg New Jersey School District.
